About Shore Trim

Independent swimwear and beachwear reviews, judged in real water.

Shore Trim started with a simple problem: buying swimwear online felt like a gamble. Fabric that looked silky in a photo turned sheer in the water. Sizing charts that promised a perfect fit delivered straps that dug in or bottoms that rode up after one dive. We were tired of returns, wasted money, and suits that looked nothing like their listing photos — so we decided to do the testing ourselves and share it with everyone else stuck in the same boat.

Our Founding Story

Shore Trim was founded in 2021 by a small group of friends who met through a shared obsession: beach vacations and the never-ending hunt for swimwear that actually works. Between us, we've spent years living near the coast, traveling to warm-weather destinations, and swimming competitively and recreationally. We noticed that most swimwear coverage online was either paid placement dressed up as advice or vague listicles that recycled product descriptions without ever touching the fabric. We wanted something different — a site run by people who actually get in the water wearing the products they recommend.

What began as a shared spreadsheet of suits we'd personally tried has grown into a full review operation, but the mission hasn't changed: help people find swimwear and beachwear that fits well, holds up, and feels good to wear, backed by honest, detailed testing rather than guesswork.

How We Review and Pick Products

Every item featured on Shore Trim goes through a structured review process before it earns a spot on the site. We don't accept a brand's marketing copy as fact — we verify it.

  • We buy or source samples independently. Most products are purchased at retail price using our own budget so our opinions aren't shaped by who sent us free gear.
  • We test in real conditions. Suits are worn swimming, lounging, and moving — think jumping waves, doing laps, sitting on sand, and air-drying — not just modeled for photos.
  • We evaluate fabric and construction closely. This includes checking opacity when wet, stretch recovery, lining quality, seam strength, and how colors hold up after multiple washes and sun exposure.
  • We assess fit across body types. Our testing panel includes people of different sizes, shapes, and swimming habits, so recommendations aren't based on a single body type.
  • We compare value against the asking price. A $120 bikini should outperform a $25 one — we check whether it actually does.
  • We revisit older reviews. If a brand changes its fabric, sizing, or quality over time, we update our coverage to reflect that.

Only after this process does a product get ranked, scored, or recommended. If something doesn't hold up — sagging after one wash, straps that snap, fabric that pills — we say so clearly, even if it means a popular or well-marketed brand gets a lower score than expected.

What Makes Shore Trim Trustworthy

We know readers have been burned by influencer-style reviews that feel more like ads than honest opinions, so transparency is central to how we operate.

  • Editorial independence. Our reviews and rankings are based on testing results, not advertising relationships. When we do use affiliate links, it never changes which products we recommend or how we score them.
  • Clear disclosure. If a product was sent to us for free or if a link on our site earns a commission, we disclose it plainly within the relevant page.
  • Real testers, real names. Our review team includes swimmers, beach-trip regulars, and former retail buyers who understand fit and fabric from firsthand experience, not just spec sheets.
  • Ongoing accountability. We welcome reader feedback, and when someone flags an inconsistency between our review and their own experience, we investigate and update the page if needed.

Shore Trim exists because we believe finding the right swimsuit shouldn't require trial, error, and a pile of returns. Whether you're shopping for a reliable one-piece for lap swimming, a bikini for a beach weekend, or board shorts that won't fade after one season, our goal is to give you the same clear, tested guidance we wished we had when we started.

Thanks for reading — and we'll see you at the shoreline.
